Call For Applications: GEMMS Research Coordinator

Applications are invited for a Research Coordinator at the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS), based at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating GEMMS research activities in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

GEMMS is a Global Health Research Group on Disrupting the cycle of gendered violence and poor mental health among migrants in precarious situations. The Group is a collaboration between the University of Essex, Wits University, the University of Johannesburg, the University of Oxford, the Tata Institute for Social Science, Africa University, and Health Poverty Action. Working with diverse migrant groups in India, Myanmar, South Africa and Zimbabwe, GEMMS creates conceptual and methodological tools and actions to disrupt the damaging cycle of gendered violence and poor mental health.

Timeframe: The position will run for six months, with the option to apply for a 2-year position that will be advertised in the first quarter of 2024.
Remuneration: ZAR 49,666 per month (grade 9).
